New Books

This search allows you to find books, videos, and other media that have been recently acquired by the library.   The results of this search will include both newly published works as well as older ones just recently added to the collection.

To search for newly added books, videos, etc.

1.  Select the time period: items added in the last week, last 2 weeks, last 3 weeks, or last 4 weeks.

2.  Select the way you would like the results to be arranged: by call number, by author, or by title.

3.  If you want to see a  summary list of all items recently added to the library, just hit the Search button.

4.  Or, you may use the "Search for (Optional)" box to limit your search to:
        a.  works by particular authors
        b.  works with certain words in the title
        c.  or, works that fall in certain call numbers

In the "Search for (Optional)" box, enter the name of the author (e.g., Sagan, or Carl Sagan), a word that might appear in the title (e.g., Idaho), or the beginning of the call number (e.g., QC or QC 774).   Boolean keyword searches and searches of subject heading are not possible from this screen.  The best way to search for new books, etc., on a certain subject is to know the call number of that subject and enter the beginning of that number.

5.  After hitting the Search button, you will either get a message that says "No Search Results" or you will get a summary list of titles that meet your search criteria.  For more information about the item, click on the underlined title.

6.  New titles may not yet be located on the regular shelves of the Library.  Be sure to read the Status of the catalog entry to determine their locations.  If you need help locating the item, please ask at the Reference desk.

ARIEL UNICODE MS is the recommended font for viewing Search Tips. The screen may not display properly in other fonts.
Search Tips: Limits Limits may only be used with Keyword, Title, Journal Title, and Author (Personal or Corporate) searches.
Limits are retained between searches until they are removed.
Use Quick Limit to apply a single, commonly-used limit to your current search.
Use Limits to apply one or more limits (such as years, languages, locations, etc.) to a search.
Quick Limit and Limits cannot be used simultaneously.
Keyword The default Keyword search is a relevance search that combines terms with 'and'.
To truncate, use a question mark. For example: child? will retrieve child, child's, children, childhood, etc.
To search phrases, use quotes. For example:"French Revolution"
Title and Journal Title Omit initial articles (a, an, the, el, la, etc.) when doing a title search:
lewis and clark journals rather than the lewis and clark journals
Author (Personal or Corporate) For individuals, enter last name first, followed by first name, if known: shakespeare william
Enter names of organizations or groups: american psychological association
Subject Browse Searches Library of Congress Subject headings. For this search to work, terms must be entered in exact order.
Example: united states history rather than history united states
If the search does not work, try a Keyword or Keyword Within Subject search where word order does not matter.
Call Number Searching Albertsons Library uses several types of call number searches. Call Number Browse will search any of these types. For all, type as much of the call number as you know, including spaces and punctuation.
