Holds/Requests

             

Holds

Holds can only be placed on Library materials that are checked out. Holds are placed from the Library catalog view of a title’s display. You must be logged-in to place a hold.

  1. View the display of the item. Verify the item is checked out.
  2. Click on the Hold/Request link at the top of the screen. If you have not logged in, the Login screen will display. Enter your login information, and then click the Login button.
  3. Click the drop down menu, and select Hold. Click the OK button.
  4. Select the Any Copy radio button to place a hold on any copy at any Library location, or select a specific copy to place on hold.
  5. Enter your BSU ID number and any comments for your Circulation Department related to the hold.
  6. The location where you will pick the item up is the BSU Circulation Desk.
  7. Enter the number of days after which you will not need this item in the Not Needed After box.  The hold will be automatically cancelled after 90 days.
  8. Click the Submit Request button.  The Clear Form button will reset the fields.
  9. You should receive a message that your request has been successfully submitted.  If you receive the error message "Your request FAILED!" the hold was not placed.  Please check with staff at the Reference or Circulation desk for assistance.
  10. Once you have placed a hold, you can check on its status by clicking on View Your Library Record.  The information will be displayed under Item available for pickup if the item has been returned or under Requests Pending if still checked out.
 

Recalls

Recalls can be placed on Library materials that are checked out. The patron who has the item checked out will be given a new due date seven days from when the Recall is placed.  Please note that all users are guaranteed a minimum of at least a 14-day loan.  Recalls are placed from the Library catalog view of a title’s display. You must be logged-in to place a hold.

  1. View the display of the item. Verify the item is checked out.
  2. Click on the Hold/Request link at the top of the screen. If you have not logged in, the Login screen will display. Enter your login information, and then click the Login button.
  3. Click the drop down menu, and select Recall. Click the OK button.
  4. Select the Any Copy radio button to place a recall on any copy at any Library location, or select a specific copy to recall.
  5. Enter your BSU ID number and any comments for your Circulation Department related to the recall.
  6. The location where you will pick up the item is the BSU Circulation Desk.
  7. Enter the number of days after which you will not need this item in the Not Needed After box.  The recall will be automatically cancelled after 90 days.
  8. Click the Submit Request button.  The Clear Form button will reset the fields.
  9. You should receive a message that your recall has been successfully submitted.  If you receive the error message "Your request FAILED!" the recall was not placed.  Please check with staff at the Reference or Circulation desk for assistance.

'In Process' Request Form

You can request a title in the Library catalog marked as BSU Albertsons Library 'In processing.' This "processing" information indicates the title has been received by Albertsons Library, but is not yet on collection shelves. Titles with the following status or locations may be requested:

-  Tech Services In Process. Ask at Reference Desk
-  In CRC Workroom-processing. Ask at CRC Desk
-  In Documents Workroom-processing. Ask at Reference Desk

An 'In Process' request can be placed from the Library catalog view of a title’s display. You must be logged-in to submit a request.

  1. View the display for the title. Verify that the item is 'In Process'.
  2. Click on the Hold/Request link at the top of the screen. If you have not logged in, the Login screen will display. Enter your login information, and then click the Login button.
  3. Click the drop down menu, and select the 'In Process' request form. Click the OK button.
  4. Enter your BSU ID number and any comments for your Circulation Department related to this request.
  5. The location where you will pick up this item is the BSU Circulation Desk.
  6. Select the location where you would like to pick the item up: the BSU Circulation Desk or the BSU West Circulation Desk for Albertsons Library materials or the Idaho Commission for Libraries Circulation Desk for ICFL titles.
  7. Enter the number of days after which you will not need this item in the Not Needed After box.
  8. Click the Submit Request button.  The Clear Form button will reset the fields.
  9. This request cannot be viewed from your Library account. You will be contacted regarding the request via your Boise State University Google email account or at the telephone number listed in your patron record. If you have another email account or telephone number you prefer we use, please include this information in the Comments box.

Distance Request Form

The Distance Request Form is used by Boise State University Distance learning students to submit library material requests. For information on services for Distance learning students, access the Albertsons Library Distance Student website at http://library.boisestate.edu/distance/ .

  1. Enter the author, title, publisher, date, and call number of the item you are requesting.
  2. Enter your name, email address, and your BSU ID number.
  3. Enter any comments you have about this request.
  4. Click the Submit Request button.  The Clear Form button will reset the fields.
  5. This request cannot be viewed from your Library account. You will be contacted regarding the request via the email address you submitted or called at the telephone number listed in your Library account.
 

Faculty/Staff Request Form

The Staff Request Form is used by Boise State University faculty and staff to request items that are on the shelf and have them either held at the Circulation Desk for pick-up or delivered to their department.  If delivery is desired, the department must be specified in the comments section of the form.  You must be logged-in to submit a request.

  1. View the detailed or brief record display for the title. Verify that the item is 'Not Checked Out'.
  2. Click on the Hold/Request link at the top of the screen. If you have not logged in, the Login screen will display. Enter your login information, and then click the Login button.
  3. Click the drop down menu, and select the 'Staff Request Form". Click the OK button.
  4. Enter your BSU ID number and any comments for the Circulation Department related to this request. 
  5. When delivery is requested, the department information must be included in the comments section. For pickup, the item will be available at the BSU Circulation Desk.
  6. Enter the number of days after which you will not need this item in the Not Needed After box.
  7. Click the Submit Request button.  The Clear Form button will reset the fields.
  8. This request cannot be viewed from your Library account. You will be contacted regarding the request via your Boise State University email account or at the telephone number listed in your Library account. If you have another email account or telephone number you prefer we use, please include this information in the Comments box.
